Ceris Burns International recognises and rewards innovation in waste and resource management

Ceris Burns International is proud to be sponsoring a category at this year’s Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) Awards. The winners will be recognised for their achievements at a high profile event on 7th November, and there are two strands to the 2013 awards.

The CIWM Professional Awards focus on skills, learning and professional development; while the CIWM Environmental Excellence Awards acknowledge and celebrate performance and achievement in waste and resource management, within the waste industry itself and in relevant commercial sectors such as facilities management, retail and construction.

Ceris Burns International is sponsoring the Innovative Practice Award as part of the Environmental Excellence categories. The award recognises eminence in any aspect of innovation related to waste management or resource recovery. Previous winners and runners-up have included a schools education programme that used a new cartoon character to get children interested in the concept of waste management, and a five-step process that turned waste cardboard from local businesses into caviar!

The UK waste and resource management sector is thriving, and its steady development over recent years has been interesting and inspiring to watch. Establishing itself as an industry in its own right, while also becoming closer to the cleaning and facilities management sectors thanks to the relevance of their particular skills and the mutual benefits each partner can bring to the mix, there is no doubt that its importance and influence is growing.
