Rising To The Challenge – Our Year in Review

As 2021 draws to a close, it’s a time to reflect on the past twelve months and what we’ve achieved, and plan ahead for the new year. It’s been yet another challenging time for all businesses, but there have also been successes to celebrate. Here we share some of the highlights for both Team CBI and the sectors we represent:

A fresh start

January brought hope on the horizon with the initial vaccination programme in full swing. There was an exciting development for CBI too, with an office move to a new base in Nottinghamshire.

Cleaning industry gains further recognition

The professional cleaning industry continues to receive the praise it has always deserved, and gain wider public recognition, as COVID-19 highlights its essential role.

February saw the inauguration of an All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) representing the cleaning and hygiene sector in the Houses of Parliament. The industry’s professionalism has been recognised further with The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners receiving a grant of Royal Approval. This allows it to confer the award of ‘Chartered Practitioner in Environmental Cleaning’, to members and establish a register of chartered members.

 The show goes on!

We were thrilled that face-to-face events were back this year! CBI attended a number of shows across the cleaning, facilities management and environmental sectors. This included Ceris joining fellow members to celebrate the Installation of Gary Fage as the new Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, in September. It was fantastic to also meet with industry peers, and support a number of our professional cleaning clients exhibiting at the Cleaning Show in November.

We were also proud to be a partner supporting this year’s InstallerSHOW, which took place in September, bringing together delegates and stakeholders from across the UK heating, plumbing and electrical industries.

Award celebrations

We’re proud to write award winning entries for many of our clients, showcasing their achievements. This year was no different, as we helped Davis Commercial Services win the accolade of ‘Best Recycling Facility of the Year’ at the National Recycling Awards in December. Congratulations to them on this fantastic win!

CBI is also continuing our partnership as a sponsor of the European Cleaning and Hygiene Awards, and providing PR support to further raise the profile of the 2022 awards and celebrate industry successes.

Three is the magic number

In December we celebrated the third anniversary of our equestrian division, Ceris Burns Equestrian, which provides horse powered PR and marketing services!

Growing our business

We all continue to go through a time of huge change and disruption, but some things will always stay the same, including the need for clear communications. We’re pleased to be working with a number of new clients this year, alongside long-term partnership relationships.

The pandemic has massively accelerated digital communication, and this year we’ve supported a number of our clients, including the National Carpet Cleaning Association and Denis Rawlins with a series of ‘talking head’ videos, sharing best practice advice. Digital can help to businesses to market themselves in a more unusual and captivating way. For instance we supported Davis Commercial Services with its drone footage to help show the size and scale of their expanded treatment and processing facility.

Time to Shine

We make it our business to help build client reputations. Having a good reputation, in turn builds business for our customers. We’d like to end this year by thanking our clients who have worked with us over the past year – and we celebrate all your successes during these challenging times!
