Autumn/Winter events usher in busy time for the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners

The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners (WCEC) will be hosting, and taking part in a number of events this autumn and winter.

Activities ‘tee off’ with the WCEC Golf Day, which takes place at Sand Martins Golf Club in Wokingham on 9th September. Following this, on 18th September, the WCEC will take part in the Inter Livery Halls Walk. This sees Masters, court members and clerks from a wide range of livery companies join together for a sponsored walk. The route takes them to many of the City’s Livery Halls, and raises money for various Charity Trusts, as well as The Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

Moving towards the end of the month, the Annual General Meeting takes place on 24th September, followed by the Military Awards Lunch – seen by many as the highlight of the WCEC year. It takes place in the spectacular surroundings of Fishmongers Hall, which occupies an enviable position on the River Thames.

This celebratory, and often emotional event, recognises the achievements of personnel from the Royal Army Medical Corps, the RAF Environmental Health Cadre, and members of the WCEC’s affiliated cadet units.

The work of cadets training to become Environmental Health Technicians within their respective military units is a crucial role. The job involves advising on all aspects of environmental health; occupational hygiene and environmental protection, both in barracks and under field conditions. Qualified technicians serve throughout the United Kingdom and overseas, helping to protect our freedom and safety. The WCEC is proud to honour them at this annual event as part of its mission to maintain high standards of practice and integrity within the cleaning industry.

As the year moves towards its end, Clothworkers’ Hall in the City of London will be the venue for the WCEC Ladies Banquet on 28th November; with a carol service at St Olave’s Church on 3rd December.
