Maureen Marden is Environmental Cleaners’ new Master

Annual change of leadership at the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners

On Thursday 26 April, Maureen Marden will be installed as the new Master of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners during the annual ceremony at St Olave’s Church, Hart Street within the City of London.

This is Maureen’s second time as Master having been the third woman to hold the position in 2013.

Maureen said, “It is an honour to once again be Master of the Environmental Cleaners. I was not expecting to serve a second term, but I am fully prepared for the challenge ahead. With the support of my colleagues, I am sure we will make this another successful year for the company, working within, and on behalf of, the cleaning industry.”

Outgoing Master, Jack Broadley, said, “There can be few, if any, people with a better knowledge of the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners. As well as being a Past Master, Maureen has served us ably as Clerk for several years. We are clearly in very safe hands for the coming year.”

The Environmental Cleaners is one of 110 Livery Companies based upon trades, industries and professions, and it carries on the ancient traditions of the Guilds and Livery Companies which started in the 12th century. A traditional company with a modern focus, the Environmental Cleaners encourages and maintains high standards of practice and integrity in the cleaning industry. It also promotes and supports charities, education and training.

Livery Companies are governed by a Master, Wardens and a Court of Assistants, which is the Livery Company’s governing body.
