World leading noise-mapping software developer, SoundPLAN, has released version 6.0 of its SoundPLANessential software to the global market.
SoundPLANessential is designed for standard noise reports for smaller-scale developments or occasional projects. The software enables users to calculate, document and visualise noise propagation from roads, railways, industrial sources, and parking lots. The software is user-friendly, providing reliable tabular and graphical results for a standard environmental noise calculation.
The noise emissions calculations are based on inputted measurement data or library information within SoundPLANessential 6.0. For traffic noise, the sound power of the source is calculated on the basis of the traffic volume and mixture. For industry noise, measured sound power levels or elements from the software’s emission library are used.
Using this data, the software creates maps, which are very visual demonstrations of where noise comes from and how it propagates. The maps are colour coded so they can be easily understood. This is especially useful when dealing with other planners or non-building professionals involved in the project. Planners can then test scenarios and assess the best options to reduce noise and protect people from its harmful effects.
The software enables users to transfer background maps from Google Maps and OpenStreetMap to use these as a basis for the terrain model and work on projects efficiently.
New features in SoundPLANessential 6.0 include:
The software also includes a number of features and improvements added to the previous version of SoundPLANessential. This includes the adaptation of Building Acoustics-Outside to the updated standard EN ISO 12354-3:2017, which relates to the estimation of the acoustic performance of buildings. This can be used to prove the acoustic properties (the transmission loss) of a room against unwanted outdoor noise.
The software is compatible with d&b audiotechnics ArrayCalc, to predict the sound from electroacoustic systems at open air events, giving a graphical overview during the planning of the stage setup.
The available noise dispersion calculation methods are supplemented by CNOSSOS-EU (road, rail, and industrial noise), including the German and Austrian adaptations.
SoundPLAN also offers its fully comprehensive software solution, SoundPLANnoise, suitable for all facets of indoor and outdoor noise emission control, noise at the workplace or room acoustics, small projects, or nationwide noise mapping.
