It’s often said that to be successful in business, or life in general, it’s not what you know, but who you know that’s important. The cleaning industry is no different. The sector has a lot of potential for those with an entrepreneurial spirit, but everyone needs a helping hand now and then.
For the past nearly 30 years, that’s what the Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners has been all about. Although livery companies have a very traditional heritage and image, the modern companies are focused on providing networking opportunities and encouraging and maintaining high standards of practice and integrity. Another key role is the promotion and support of education and training, research projects and charities.
That means there are plenty of development opportunities, as well as the chance to do your bit for others in your industry and wider society.
Who are the members?
Our members represent companies who, combined, have more than one million employees in the cleaning, building services and wastes management industries.
Among our 200 members are directors and managers who work in cleaning and support services, including most of the top companies in the sector, as well as manufacturers and suppliers to our industry.
So whether you would like some advice from someone who has different experiences to you, or you can offer the benefit of your ‘know how’ to another member, the Worshipful Company has a place for you.
The social network
There is a strong social side to the Worshipful Company as members get to know their industry colleagues at functions and events. Family and friends can also come to events staged in some of London’s finest and most historic buildings.
While it may be professional interests that bring members together, we’re not restricted to formal activities and regularly organise leisure activities, including, Inter Livery Ski Championships and clay pigeon shooting and a livery golf event. There is also a Younger Inter Livery Group which organises regular activities.
So if you’re a young up and coming cleaning professional or perhaps someone more experienced looking to develop your career, why not see what the Worshipful Company can do for you?
