SiteZone Safety’s SmartBubble technology to be installed as standard on all new excavator systems

SiteZone Safety, will supply their patent-pending SmartBubble upgrade option on all excavator proximity warning systems

From 1^st April 2021, all new excavator systems supplied by SiteZone Safety will have SmartBubble’s Deadman’s Handle (DMH) option installed as a standard safety feature. SiteZone is the only proximity warning system (PWS) available with this patent-pending SmartBubble Technology, making it a unique safety offering for high-risk sectors.

We have taken the decision to enhance safety on all SiteZone excavator systems.

Targeted, automated safety with no time-wasting

SmartBubble automates authorised approach to plant vehicles when they are in a ‘safe state’ without  triggering workers’ SiteZone PWS tags and system alarms. It reduces potential “nuisance alarms”, downtime and simplifies operator interaction with the SiteZone system. It also operates in conjunction with existing safety protocols, like ‘thumbs up’ and helps reinforce positive safety behaviour around mobile plant.

On excavators, SmartBubble reduces the SiteZone exclusion zone when the machine is in a safe state, i.e. the deadman’s handle (DMH) is engaged. As soon as the DMH is disengaged the exclusion zone increases to its “working” size.

SiteZone Safety’s telematics option, OverSite, is being upgraded to include SmartBubble functionality. OverSite gathers real time collision risk data from the PWS to enable better safety benchmarking.  Because of SmartBubble, genuine alerts can be filtered from those which occur when the machine is in a safe state.

Accessible and adaptable

The excavator PWS including the SmartBubble option can be purchased at no additional cost. Furthermore, the SiteZone PWS will also be available for hire with the SmartBubble option from SiteZone Safety’s hire partners, ESS Safeforce.

Existing PWS systems in the field can be upgraded to SmartBubble for a small fee.
