WAMITAB is confirming its status as the leading authority in qualifications for the waste, cleaning and facilities management sectors by launching a new communications campaign, aimed at improving industry standards and raising awareness on the key issues facing these converging sectors, both now and in the future.
It has appointed Ceris Burns International, specialist agency for the environmental, cleaning and facilities management sectors, to handle its PR, and to help it publicise a number of new initiatives and events planned for the coming months.
The most significant development is the launch of the WAMITAB Skills Academy – an online portal that utilises mobile technology to enhance learning opportunities. The service went live in June and aims to provide an information hub for anyone interested in improving their skills, providing access to over 300 online courses from leading organisations such as the Chartered Management Institute.
WAMITAB will also be playing a key role at the up-coming British Association of Cleaning in Higher Education (BACHE) conference, which takes place at the University of Wolverhampton from 24-25 June. Chris James, CEO of WAMITAB, will be hosting a special workshop on qualifications in resource management, recycling, facilities and cleaning services in HE.
WAMITAB will then be taking its ‘Skills Village’ to the RWM Show in Birmingham in September. Seminars and interactive discussions on all things skills-related, including apprenticeships, funding, online learning, technical competence and more will be hosted by leading industry experts in training, consultancy and qualifications.
Chris James, CEO of WAMITAB, said: “WAMITAB takes its role as the foremost awarding organisation in the sector very seriously, and we are duty-bound to inform and support those who work within it, encouraging ever higher standards of professionalism and achievement. We are also keen to lead debates on the issues that will have the most impact on our sector in years to come including the use of mobile technology, and how we can help members of disadvantaged communities to access the training and qualifications they need to gain employment. It is an exciting time for WAMITAB and Ceris Burns International will play an instrumental part in driving forward our agenda.”
